SMO Services Ltd and MAC Clinical Research is an organisation providing clinical trial services for pharmaceutical companies and CRO’s. The terms and conditions included within this privacy policy apply to members of the public, patients, volunteers and healthcare professionals who provide their personal information and interact with SMO Services Ltd and MAC Clinical Research using the App.

What personal information does MAC Clinical Research collect, using the Research For You App?

If you have expressed an interest in participating in one of our studies and set your account up, then the information we collect through the App may include information relating to your name, address, telephone number, date of birth, gender, race/ethnic origin, country of origin, contact information, your physical or mental health history, lifestyle information/interests and medications you currently take (both over the counter and prescribed).

By completing and submitting personal data to the App you are consenting to your information being processed and stored in a secure central location within Europe by SMO Services Ltd and MAC Clinical Research; who will manage your data in accordance with this privacy policy and the General Data Protection Regulation.

How does MAC Clinical Research use the information you provide on the Research For You app?

If you are interested in participating in a clinical trial, the information you provide on the App will then be expanded upon to determine your suitability and ensure that SMO Services Ltd and MAC Clinical Research can provide the best possible care. SMO Services Ltd and MAC Clinical Research uses the information provided to let you know about upcoming clinical trials that you may be eligible for, arrange appointments to attend our clinics, assess trends in therapy areas around the demographic areas of our clinics, provide useful news and pharmaceutical industry updates and to send messages and notifications to you about upcoming clinical trials.

Providing your details on the App does not guarantee you will be eligible or able to participate in a clinical trial. 

Third parties

On occasion, SMO Services Ltd and MAC Clinical Research uses third party companies and individuals to undertake some systems development for our services.  Access to any personal information you provide to SMO Services Ltd and MAC Clinical Research through the App or by other means is restricted to SMO Services Ltd and MAC Clinical Research personnel and only in a limited way to contracted third parties and only when it is necessary to perform the function that they provide. All third parties acting on behalf of SMO Services Ltd and MAC Clinical Research are contractually obliged not to disclose your information or use the information for any other purpose. 

Data security

SMO Services Ltd and MAC Clinical Research is committed to ensuring that your personal information, in particular the information collected through this app, is secure. SMO Services Ltd and MAC Clinical Research has implemented appropriate physical, electronic and managerial procedures and safeguards designed to protect the personal information that you provide in accordance with industry standards and prevent unauthorised access or disclosure.

Unfortunately, the transmission of information over the internet is not 100% secure. Therefore, whilst SMO Services Ltd and MAC Clinical Research does its utmost to protect your data we cannot guarantee the security of data transmitted to SMO Services Ltd and MAC Clinical Research and you do this at your own risk.

Passwords

You also have a responsibility in respect of your personal information. If you choose or are given a login or password for the App, you are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your password and user name for the App.  You are responsible for all activities that are carried out under them and SMO Services Ltd and MAC Clinical Research is not liable where your username or password is used by someone else.  You agree to notify SMO Services Ltd and MAC Clinical Research immediately by email to: appsupport@researchforyou.co.uk  if you know or suspect your username or password is being used in an unauthorised manner. SMO Services Ltd and MAC Clinical Research retains the right to disable any username or password at its own discretion for any reason, including but not limited to, if you breach any terms of this privacy policy.

Retention

SMO Services Ltd and MAC Clinical Research retains personal information provided by you for the period for which it is reasonably necessary to provide our services, exercise your wishes, comply with legal obligations and/or meet regulatory requirements, resolve disputes, prevent fraud and/or abuse and enforce this privacy policy. 

Rights to access, correct and update personal information
